Non-Chemical Weed Control

Heatweed® technology is the most effective thermal, non-chemical weed-control method on the market using 100% natural, super-heated water.

Developed by innovative Norwegian-based company with more than 35 years’ in the green and agriculture sector, Heatweed® is an award-winning, highly effective and environmentally responsible system in achieving safe and gentle invasive species reduction.  Acacia is proud to use the Heatweed® Non-Chemical equipment to provide weed control services across Victoria. We do not sell the equipment.

Non-Chemical Weed Control

How it works:

At 99°Celsius, superheated natural water obliterates a plant’s cell structure, promoting a systemic effect of the roots. After each treatment, the plants grow weaker until eradicated permanently. An average of three or four treatments a year is proven to be enough for optimal results.

Why use hot water to manage weeds?

Using hot water to rid weeds is not a new invention. The first patent was taken out in the 1880s, but the method could not be used on a large scale due to inadequacies of the technology. Until now. Heatweed® harnesses the power of 100% natural water – the most effective conduit of heat – to distort a plant’s cell structure. Compared to other thermal methods (like steam) where the potential for heat transfer is lower and much of it is lost at the nozzle, hot water offers better control and accuracy, with the added benefit of reduced water consumption.

The advantage of using the Heatweed® method:

  • Glyphosate sensitive – all natural, with no harmful chemicals
  • Integration – supports existing land management systems
  • Versatile and safe application – can be used near water, conservation parks and playgrounds
  • Environmentally responsible – low water consumption
  • Economical – highly efficient per square metre cost
